The options window can be started by clicking the "Set options" button or selecting the similar choice from the menubar in the main window of the program. The options window looks like the figure below. To be able to estimate missing dates in the GEDCOM file you select as input, the program uses a number constraints to limit the dates. Some of te constraints use things like maximum living age or minimum age to have a child to be able to give an estimate. As it is hard to set an absolute value for such things, it is possible to change what values the program should use. Reasonable default values are provided, but if you know or suspect that some of the values will not hold for your particular set of data, you are free to change them. Note that the last option that may be set in this window, "ABT means", has to do with something else. In GEDCOM, dates can be specified with the identifier "ABT", for "about", to say that the event happened about the specified date rather than exactly on it. The GEDCOM Estimator are only operating on year ranges, and will translate this to the specified year +/- as many years as this option specifies.
