The main window in the GEDCOM Estimator is quite simple, and looks like the figure below. It has three main parts: the menubar, the main buttons and the status window. To start with the last of the three parts, the status window will show some information during the estimation process. More about that in "How to do the estimation". There are two main buttons. The "Start estimation" button starts the estimation process, while the "Set options" button gives access to a window where it is possible to change parameters for the program. Finally, the menubar contains the tasks already mentioned plus a few more. The "File" menu contains the entries "Start estimation" and "Exit". "Start estimation" starts exactly the same estimation procedure as the button with the same name, while "Exit" simply exits the program. The "Options" menu only contains a "Set options" entry, which is the same as the button with the same name. The "Help" menu contains the entries "Help contents" and "About". "Help contents" was supposed to start the help system for the program, but for this version it simply displays a message box that tells where the help system is located. The "About" entry displays an about box with similar information that can be found in the about section of this help system. |
