CSC8309 -- Gene Expression and Proteomics

Proteomics Practical

The end result of a proteomics experiment, whatever the techniques used in the lab, is often a list of protein IDs which vary in some way between two (or more) different conditions. This practical aims to explore some of the ways in which value can be added to this type of information.

The protein list you will be given comes from a published 2D Gel Electrophoresis experiment. This study compared two samples, one affected by the process being studied and one control. The paper reported 20 proteins that differed significantly in expression between the two samples. By the end of this practical session, you should be able to identify the process that was being studied in the paper.
