Nick Cook - CV

I am a senior lecturer in Computing at Newcastle University. I have a BSc in mathematics from Manchester University, and an MSc and a PhD in computing science from Newcastle University. Up to August 2009, my research focussed on middleware systems support for B2B e-commerce. I now concentrate on teaching and engagement with local schools. I lead the Computing At School (CAS) North East Regional Centre, which is part of the BCS/CAS Network of Excellence.

Awarded EuroSys Roger Needham Prize 2007 for PhD Thesis on Middleware Support for Non-repudiable Business-to-Business Interactions.
1998-2000 MSc in Computing Science with Distinction (2000), Newcastle University.
Awarded Philip Merlin prize for MSc Dissertation on Asynchronous/Multithreaded I/O on Commodity Systems with Multiple Disks - a performance study.
1979-1982 BSc (Hons) in Mathematics (1982), Manchester University.
