Position
I am currently Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering but continue to have teaching involvement as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing Science.
Teaching
I lead the Newcastle contribution to the ALiC (Active Learning in Computing) CETL (Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning).
I am a co-author of The Apprentice C++ Programmer. A Touch of Class.
Administration
I am the coordinator of an Erasmus Exchange Programme. I am coordinator and contractor for a TEMPUS TACIS programme involving universities in Ukraine, Finland and the UK, CD_JEP-26008-2005. I was the contractor for a TEMPUS TACIS programme involving universities in Kazakhstan, Sweden and Spain; here's a photo of me as a Kazakh!
Research
My research interests are in the area of pedagogic research.

I am an External Examiner at Manchester University and Hull University.
